When I meet new people I like to tell them that I have the greatest job in the world. "I recruit people to join the Volunteer Rescue Squads of Virginia Beach!" I've been a volunteer for over 48 years, spending my early years as a firefighter but most of my years volunteering in EMS, serving in a bunch of positions and at different certification levels. Today, I'm assigned to the cities major incident response team. Recruitment is a never ending process and you have to "fish where the fish are." Have a great day everyone.
Hi everybody, I'm Spencer Cheatham and, until last month, was the RRC for the West Point Volunteer Fire Department. I'm still on our Membership Committee and am also involved in R & R through the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Hi everyone, my name is Zach Hottel and I am the RRC for the Woodstock Fire Department in Virginia. I also serve on the Recruitment and Retention Coordination Committee for Shenandoah County. The most challenging part of our program is retaining driven people. The most rewarding is seeing people make a connection with an organization they want to be a part of.
